# Usage and limits

> Review credit consumption, account capacity, tier changes, and restrictions affecting your AI workforce.

# Understand spend and capacity

Use **Account → Usage** to investigate consumption and **Account → Limits** to understand the capabilities and resource capacity available to your account.

These are separate from [Billing and credits](https://docs.odella.ai/platform/billing-and-credits.md), which manages funding and spend policy.

## Review usage

1. Open **Account → Usage** in the intended account.
2. Review the daily credit-spend chart for the current billing period.
3. Inspect usage categories and ledger events to identify the source of consumption.
4. Compare relevant entries with worker [Activity](https://docs.odella.ai/workforce/activity.md) and [Tasks](https://docs.odella.ai/workforce/tasks.md).

A worker's quote explains its pricing terms; a usage entry records consumption. An estimated monthly quote does not include every possible usage-based charge.

## Review account limits

Open **Account → Limits** to see:

* Your current tier.
* Capacity for account resources, such as workers, document stores, and channels.
* Which capabilities are included or restricted.
* Requirements for an upgrade or downgrade.

Use the values displayed for your account rather than assuming all accounts have the same allowances. Resource limits can prevent creation even when the account has credits.

## Change tier

Review the proposed tier's capabilities and capacity before confirming. If a downgrade would exceed the target tier's capacity, follow the displayed requirements for resolving excess resources. Read the confirmation carefully: available downgrade controls can take effect immediately.

Before removing a resource to meet a limit, check its assignments and dependencies. Deleting a worker or store is not equivalent to temporarily pausing it.

> [!WARNING]
>
> A tier change is not a purchase of unlimited usage, and adding credits is not
> a tier upgrade. Check funding, spend controls, and capability eligibility
> separately.

## Troubleshoot a blocked operation

| Restriction | Typical next step |
| - | - |
| **Credit balance** | Fund the correct account or resolve a failed payment. |
| **Hard monthly spend limit** | Review the limit with an authorized billing manager. |
| **Resource capacity** | Adjust resources or select a suitable tier. |
| **Capability unavailable** | Check the tier and current availability of the requested feature. |
| **Worker unavailable** | Check its active state, schedule, and permissions. |
| **Permission denied** | Review account role and resource access; a tier upgrade does not grant authorization. |

After fixing the cause, inspect the original task or request before retrying to avoid repeating actions that already succeeded.
