# Microsoft Teams channel

> Register the Microsoft app, configure an Azure Bot, install the Teams package, and test an AI Employee.

# Connect a worker to Microsoft Teams

This setup requires access to Microsoft app registration, Azure Bot creation, Microsoft Graph admin consent, and Teams app installation. Ask the relevant Microsoft administrator to complete steps you are not authorized to perform.

In Odella, add a **Microsoft Teams** channel to the intended worker and keep its generated setup guide open.

## 1. Register the Microsoft app

1. In the Azure portal, open **App registrations → New registration**.
2. Use a recognizable worker name and choose **Accounts in this organizational directory only**.
3. Register the app.
4. Copy the **Application (client) ID** and **Directory (tenant) ID** into Odella.
5. Under **Certificates & secrets → Client secrets**, create a secret and copy its **Value** into Odella's **Client Secret** field before leaving the page.

Keep the secret private and record its expiry through your organization's credential-management process.

## 2. Create the Azure Bot

Create an **Azure Bot** with the values shown by Odella's guide:

* **Type of App:** Single Tenant.
* **Creation type:** Use existing app registration.
* **App ID:** The Application (client) ID from the previous step.
* **App tenant ID:** The Directory (tenant) ID.

Use the pricing and resource-group choices approved by your organization. The in-app guide provides the suggested bot handle and setup values.

## 3. Configure the endpoint and Teams channel

1. In the Azure Bot, open **Settings → Configuration**.
2. Paste the **Messaging endpoint** generated by the Odella channel and select **Apply**.
3. Open **Channels → Microsoft Teams**, review and accept the terms, then apply.
4. Confirm the client ID, tenant ID, and client secret in Odella, then create the channel.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Use the endpoint generated for this channel and environment. Do not guess a
> regional URL or reuse another worker's endpoint.

## 4. Enable member matching

In the app registration, open **API permissions → Add a permission → Microsoft Graph → Application permissions**. Add **User.Read.All** and have an authorized administrator grant consent.

Review this directory-read permission with your Microsoft administrator. It supports member matching; it is not a grant of unrestricted Odella access.

## 5. Install the Teams app package

1. Enter a valid Application (client) ID in Odella.
2. Select **Download Teams app package** in the setup guide.
3. In Teams admin center, open **Teams apps → Manage apps → Actions → Upload new app**.
4. Upload the package and allow it as required by your policies.
5. In Teams, find the worker under **Apps → Built for your org** and add it.

If your organization permits direct custom app uploads, follow that supported Teams installation path instead.

## 6. Test a direct message

Send a low-risk direct message from an allowed member before adding the app to a team channel. Verify the reply and related Activity in Odella.

## Troubleshooting

* **Cannot create the bot/resource group:** Ask the Azure subscription owner to review your creation permissions.
* **Cannot download the package:** Check that the client ID is valid and present in the editor.
* **App unavailable in Teams:** Check upload/allow policy and installation in the correct tenant.
* **Member not recognized:** Check tenant ID, Graph permission/admin consent, and the worker's inbound policy.
* **Messages fail after a previously working setup:** Check secret expiry and the bot endpoint before recreating resources.
